As it grows this green hybrid is unremarkable unless it is let to grow. Then the bottom keeps growing and delivers a huge bottom that can be as large as a Mac quarter pounder but thicker and has premium classic artichoke flavor. This gives many possibilities for the cook. The immature heads can be eaten normally but letting the heads grow opens a world of creation.

Grower’s Tips -  some germinate indoors, with wet papertowel and ziplock bag method at room temperature.  Or sow, directly into soil, ¾ inch deep, colder soil will slow germination.  Best to wait until final freez of the season to plant.  When days reach 85 f, germination will slow.

Pre-plant- pre irrigate planting area and fertilize if you choose, or mix in your organic fertilizer at this time.  Plant into damp ground, and keep on the dryer side until a few true leaves form.
