Athena Artichoke Seeds
This round green artichoke is very productive, early. Producing glossy green heads with thick leaves its food quality is high with traditional flavor and is an early producer, usually beating all competitors in total growing time. It is a real crowd pleaser and is preferred in France, Italy, and Mexico against other hybrids. The plants are not large, and higher density can be used for higher production.
Grower’s Tips - some germinate indoors, with wet paper towel and Ziplock bag method at room temperature. Or sow, directly into soil, ¾ inch deep, colder soil will slow germination. Best to wait until final freeze of the season to plant. When days reach 85 f, germination will slow.
Pre-plant- pre-irrigate planting area and fertilize if you choose or mix in your organic fertilizer. Plant into damp ground and keep on the dryer side until a few true leaves form.
